This course aims to help students who have a low level of both vocabulary and grammar, and therefore find speaking & listening, and reading & writing in English difficult. While improving their language skills, students also build exam skills by starting to become familiar with the type of tasks that are included in the IELTS exam. By the end of the course, students will have built their vocabulary so they can speak and write about a range of topics which frequently occur in the IELTS exam, such as Home, Festivals, Work, Sports and so on, and they will be able to answer IELTS style questions on a range on IELTS reading and listening texts.

This course aims to help students who have studied English vocabulary and grammar in the past, but may have forgotten much of what they learned, or don’t feel very confident using English. The course reviews and builds vocabulary and grammar quickly, while also introducing academic aspects of writing which are important for IELTS. In terms of writing, students examine how to build a coherent paragraph with a clear and strong topic sentence, and in terms of reading, students focus on using different reading techniques to read effectively and efficiently. Students build exam skills by developing a thorough understanding of all parts of the speaking, listening and reading parts of the exam, as well as learning to tackle certain types of Task 1 Writing.

This course has a focus on helping students prepare for the IELTS exam equally in terms of (i) developing reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills for the IELTS exam (ii) becoming familiar with all aspects of the IELTS exam and learning how to approach all exam tasks, and (iii) developing vocabulary and grammar relevant to achieving a higher score in all IELTS tasks. By the end of the course, students will have improved aspects of their vocabulary and grammar which will allow them to get a higher IELTS score. They will have developed a thorough understanding of all aspects of the exam and will have built up a good range of exam strategies to help them tackle the exam successfully.

This course focuses on all aspects of the exam, and builds on the level achieved in IELTS Express B. However, depending on the make-up of students’ skills in the class, there is often a greater focus on productive skills (writing and speaking) as this is often where students at this level can make the biggest improvements to their scores with the help of a teacher. By the end of the course, students will have extended the range of vocabulary and grammar which they use in the speaking and writing parts of the exam, as well as developed a more sophisticated range of cohesive devices. Students will have developed a comprehensive range of exam strategies to allow them to achieve a higher score.

This course is the highest level IELTS course that we offer and is designed for students who have a high level of vocabulary and grammar, and reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. As well as continuing to develop a range of vocabulary and grammar which will score highly in the exam, this course also teaches exam strategies suitable for students who are aiming to speak and write like native speakers of English. Students learn higher level strategies such as where to include a wide range of complex grammar in speaking and writing, to avoid mechanical overuse of cohesive devices when writing, and to infer opinions when reading.
